World Cup qualification continues on Tuesday evening with Romania playing host to Cyprus at Arena Nationala. The Tricolours are second in the Group H standings, while the White and Blues are third. Let’s get into the match prediction.

Romania are aiming to reach the World Cup main draw for the first time since 1998 in France and are currently on three points in three games, six points behind the group leaders. 

The Tricolours enter this match off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Austria on Saturday, though they still have a positive record of seven wins and three losses in 10 across all competitions.

The hosts are a difficult team to beat at home, having only lost two of their last 10 on home soil since mid-October last year, while keeping clean sheets in six of those matches.

Meanwhile, Cyrus have never been to the World Cup or Euros in their history and are expected to struggle to qualify from this group after splitting their first two games, one win and one defeat. 

The White and Blues beat San Marino and lost to Bosnia-Herzegovina in their two qualification matches in March before playing out a 2-2 friendly draw with Bulgaria on Friday evening. 

The visitors have struggled on the road in recent times, currently winless in their last four games (D1 L3), while they’ve only won two of their last 12 away matches since March 2023.
