Barcelona Grand Prix Qualification Predictions & Betting tips - Formula 1
by Devesh Jaganath |
This weekend, we head to the MADRING Circuit for the Spanish Grand Prix - now known as the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix. Qualification for Sunday will be key, but we are finding it tough to look beyond Kimi Antonelli to start on the front row as our main prediction.
The 2026 Formula 1 season is starting to look increasingly like it will be the year of a certain 19-year-old’s breakthrough year.
Indeed, after six races, Kimi Antonelli has already opened up an incredible 66-point gap over second-placed Lewis Hamilton, and notched up his fifth win in a row last week at the Monaco Grand Prix.
The Mercedes driver now arrives at a track he knows all too well, as it was here that the Silver Arrows conducted the vast majority of their testing leading up to the start of the 2026 F1 season.
It is understood that on their allotted days on the track during pre-season, Antonelli completed 500 laps around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Given he also has the fastest car this year, it’s hard to look elsewhere.
Still, we have to mention Hamilton, who, despite having yet to win a race for Ferrari, is having his best run for the team, now with two second-place finishes, which perhaps suggests he could be the biggest threat to the F1 leader in qualifying.
However, Antonelli and teammate George Russell have already shared six pole positions this season, and given their familiarity here, it’s tough not to follow the Mercedes duo on Saturday.

Our Barcelona Grand Prix Qualification - Formula 1 prediction
Ferrari were widely expected to be the team to beat in Monaco last week, but as he has done over the last two months, Kimi Antonelli showed why he and Mercedes are the team everyone needs to catch.
The 19-year-old has been excellent in qualifying in 2026, and there is now no doubting that he has the fastest car in the field this year. While we will be keeping an eye on Hamilton and Leclerc, we strongly fancy Antonelli to start on the first row this Sunday. Our Barcelona Grand Prix qualification prediction is Kimi Antonelli top 2 finish.
