Five-time champions Brazil can’t afford to drop more points as they face Haiti on matchday two of the 2026 World Cup on Friday in Philadelphia. This Group C match will see the ‘Selecao’ start in third with one point from matchday one, while the ‘Grenadiers’ are fourth with zero points. This is already a match that the Samba boys can’t lose, but can they overcome the recent frustrations, or is there another tight game awaiting us?
Brazil had to come from behind to draw 1-1 against Morocco, with Vinicius Jr. saving the blushes with a stunning goal. Brazil trailed 12-14 on the shot count and narrowly avoided the embarrassment of losing an opening World Cup game for the first time since 1934.
Haiti gave a good account of themselves against Scotland, leading in possession (53.7%), expected goals (1.21 vs 1.05), and 22 total touches in the opposition box. All that counted for no points, but can they build up on that performance and scare the mighty Brazilians with a tight defensive game? Dig deep for our analysis, team news, and match predictions.

Brazil - Haiti: Form Analysis
It was back in 1934 that Brazil started a World Cup campaign with a defeat, but against Morocco that record looked in danger. They fell behind in the 21st minute, but a spectacular Vinícius Jr. goal in the 32nd minute earned a draw.
The five-time champions have won just two of their last six competitive matches now (W2, D2, L2), but the threat of beginning matchday three with knockout qualification in danger could be the incentive to improve.
Brazil haven’t failed to win the first two matches of a World Cup since 1978.
Haiti hit 15 shots in their game against Scotland, the most by any side in Group C on matchday one. That didn’t prevent a narrow 1-0 loss, making it four defeats in four World Cup matches for the 'Grenadiers.' They conceded 15 in those games, and scored just twice.
They have also lost three of their last five matches (W1, D1), but the 4-0 win over New Zealand and the 1-1 draw against Iceland in this sequence are a show of their grit and how credible a threat they can be, for any side.

Brazil & Haiti Squad Analysis
Neymar missed Brazil’s opening game due to his ongoing right calf strain. The gruelling opener, thankfully, didn’t end up adding more injury concerns. However, manager Carlo Ancelotti will have a lot to think about regarding personnel.
The 4-2-3-1 system saw Brentford’s Igor Thiago start as a striker and miss a golden chance. Flamengo’s Lucas Paqueta looked ineffective on the right wing, while Bruno Guimaraes and Casemiro failed to control the midfield and were replaced at the break.
Vinicius Jr has two goals and assists each in five World Cup appearances.
Haiti reported no new injury concerns after the match against Scotland, although the tight game tested the starting XI. They played in a 4-4-2 formation with Wilson Isidor and Frantzdy Pierrot pairing up front.
Pierrot was guilty of missing a big chance in that game against Scotland, so it would be interesting to see if they shuffle the pack and revert to a 4-2-3-1 system. The defensive unit’s focus will be firmly on Hannes Delcroix, who starred against Scotland – winning both his tackles and three out of four ground duels.

Our Brazil vs Haiti Prediction
Brazil had to come back from a goal down to earn a point in their 1-1 draw against Morocco. It was a difficult game for the Selecao, who conceded five shots within the opening 10 minutes. They need to bounce back with a win here, and their record in the World Cups against CONCACAF nations boosts their hopes. Haiti, though, have given a good account of themselves against Scotland and won’t be easy pushovers.
This could be a tight game for goals with Haiti likely to pressurize the Brazilians. Our Brazil vs Haiti prediction is less than 3.5 goals.
Brazil vs Haiti Alternative Predictions
Brazil wins
The odds are stacked against Haiti, but that was also the case for Morocco against Brazil on matchday one. Will the Selecao fumble again? It would be catastrophic if they did, so back Brazil to win.
