It hasn't been a great start to the first half of the 2025-26 Ligue 1 season for Terem Moffi, who has not played a game for OGC Nice since November. Moffi is on sick leave after an altercation with the club's ultras, fuelling uncertainty surrounding his future at the club as the January transfer window fast approaches. There are already clubs lining up for his services, with Premier League clubs Leeds United and Wolves at the center of the attention.

Is Terem Moffi really leaving France?

It is often said that football brings people together, but for Nigeria's Terem Moffi, he begs to differ on that part after the harsh treatment and inhumane behavior he has endured at French club OGC Nice this year.

The Nigerian international striker joined the Ineos-owned club from Lorient two years ago. Since joining, he has made 61 appearances for OGC Nice and has 20 goals to his name. The 2023-24 season was his best run to date, netting 11 goals in 30 appearances.

In the current season, he has made just ten appearances and has scored two goals. There's a good explanation behind those numbers, though, with the 26-year-old being placed on sick leave by his club. Catch up with our latest football predictions!

This comes after being physically assaulted in the training ground and receiving racial slurs from the fans, which has threatened his livelihood at the club. The attack was not an isolated incident targeting him, with teammate Jeremie Boga and sporting director Florian Maurice feeling the heat.

The reason behind all of this is that Moffi was seen with Loic Fery, the former president of Lorient, having a nice time after his team's defeat to Lorient, which was the sixth in a row.

Now, the Nigerian-born international has expressed his desire to leave the club in the January transfer window. The intention behind this decision: start afresh, away from the club ultras drama.

English clubs reportedly targeting a potential move for the Nigerian international

It's the signature they are chasing, and two Premier League clubs have already unveiled themselves to the public. Despite interest from Belgian and French clubs, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United believe they can outbid their competitors.

However, the word is that the sought-after Nigerian international star is unwilling to pursue his career in England, which is yet to be seen. Leeds United already have a striker at their disposal in Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Bringing in Moffi is to provide nothing but strong competition.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly in the market for a prolific striker who is capable of scoring goals. Their nine goals scored from 17 games this season indicate that something's amiss.

However, for a team that is battling with inconsistency and is in danger of being relegated to the Championship, it's unlikely Terem Moffi would want to throw himself on a sinking ship as he seeks to rediscover his form after a slow start.
