Zeynep Sonmez vs Anna Bondar Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Australian Open

Qualifier Zeynep Sonmez will be looking to continue with her strong start to the Australian Open when she takes on Anna Bondar next. This will be their third career meeting and the first at a major. Read on for our prediction of the match. 

Sonmez is having quite a time in Melbourne and will be confident of reaching the next round. The Turkish number one produced a big upset in round one when she eliminated world number 11 Ekaterina Alexandrova. 

She won in three sets to make it four wins in a row after claiming three wins in the qualifiers. It was her first victory at the Happy Slam, and in return, she has catapulted 21 places to 91st in the live ranking. 

Anna Bondar has also made a huge leap in the live ranking. The Hungarian is up 11 places to 63rd after a straight-set victory over Elizabeth Mandlik. 

Bondar won the first set 6-0 before giving up four games in the final set. She has now won five of seven matches in 2026. 

The 28-year-old, who fell in the qualifying rounds at last year’s AO edition, has never won a second-round tie at a major. Bondar defeated Sonmez in their only hard-court encounter.
