The Victoria Mboko Canadian Open fairytale continues! The teenager will be the youngest lady to feature in the event’s semi-final in 10 years when she meets Elena Rybakina. This is Mboko’s chance to avenge the loss to Rybakina in Washington in July. We have a prediction for the match below. 

Mboko saw off Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in straight sets in the quarter-finals to get here. Ranked 85th, she has now compiled a 51-9 record and with a 36-3 run on hard courts.

Mboko, who reached the third round at the French Open, is now two wins away from claiming her first WTA singles title. Making a first ever Canadian Open appearance, the 18-year-old goes into the semis placed a record 48th in the live rankings. 

Rybakina will be targeting a second straight win against Mboko. The Kazakh is seeking her second title of the season, having clinched the Strasbourg gong.

The ninth seed overcame Marta Kostyuk in the last round and will be hoping for a better outing in the last four. This will mark her sixth semi-final this season, and she has lost four of the earlier five.

Rybakina’s outing against Kostyuk was an easy one, as her opponent retired in the second set and the match lasted under one hour. That win improved her season’s record to 37-14 and sees her enter this round placed 10th in the live rank.
