Ugo Humbert vs Jan-Lennard Struff Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Mutua Madrid Open

This could well be one of the matches of the last 32 in the Madrid Masters. Ugo Humbert is seeded 13th and that's ten places above his opponent Jan-Lennard Struff. In the last 16, the winner of this match will face either defending champion (and second seed) Carlos Alcaraz or unseeded Thiago Seyboth Wild. Humbert is the world number 14 but down a place in the live rankings. He's also going well in the Live ATP Race and is currently 11th. That high position is due to his form on hard courts with two titles won this year. Now he needs to try and repeat that form on clay. Humbert did win two Challenger Tour clay court events last year but will need to improve on the main tour. He's never got past round two at Roland Garros. Before this week he'd played in this tournament five times and never won one. He finally got a win when beating Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets.

Jan-Lennard Struff is in far better form than Humbert on clay. Last week saw him win the BMW Open in Munich and he's going well again this week. He received a bye into round two where beating Jaume Munar in straight sets. Last year he was the runner-up in Madrid, losing to possible fourth round opponent Carlos Alcaraz. The Austrian is 24th in the latest rankings but with so many points to defend, he's down to 41st in the live list. Losing this match would see him having an uphill struggle to be seeded at Roland Garros. We believe he can get the win over Humbert.against whom he won their only previous meeting, though that was on a hard court.
