Kenyan Premier League giants Tusker will take the earliest opportunity to bounce back when action returns in the league this weekend. The Brewers will be at the Kenyatta Stadium to host Kakamega Homeboyz on Sunday. Here’s our preview and prediction for the match.

On Match Day 2 Tusker could not build on their opening win against Sofapaka. The former champions returned from the international break to a rude shock, falling 3-2 to minnows Kariobangi Sharks at the Police Sacco Stadium.

Courtesy of goals from Ryan Ogam and Charles Momanyi, Tusker took a 2-0 lead at halftime but tables turned in the second period. Charles Okere’s side will have to dig deeper for mental strength as they meet Homeboyz, who have lately been their bogey team.

The last time Homeboyz visited Tusker, they suffered a 1-0 loss. Before that, Abana Beingo had registered three straight wins against Tusker. One of those triumphs was in the Shield final, which sent them to the CAF Confederations Cup.

As seen in the past meetings, this fixture doesn’t come with many guarantees but Homeboyz will hope it pans their way. As veteran coach Edward Manoah settles in for his second stint, the main target is to turn around fortunes at the team.

Homeboyz started their season with a 3-0 defeat at Mara Sugar before drawing 0-0 with Mathare United on Match Day 2. This start means the once promising team has now failed to win, or score, in three straight matches.

Two wins in their last 13 matches isn’t a run to carry against Tusker away from home.
