This 2025–26 Challenge Cup Group 2 round three fixture will see bottom-placed Lions trade tackles with fifth-placed Lyon Rugby on Saturday. The two teams are winless in their opening two matches in Group 2 and will be looking to secure their first victory of the campaign this weekend. Who is likely to come out on top? Lions' three-match domestic winning run ended in their 2025–26 Challenge Cup opener against Benetton as they squandered a two-point lead at halftime, ultimately losing 26–18 to the United Rugby Championship rivals. They also suffered defeat in their second game, falling 14–10 to Premiership side Newcastle Red Bulls. 

However, Ivan van Rooyen's men will be confident of victory in Saturday's clash. They defeated Sharks 23–22 away last week in the URC and have won two of their last three Challenge Cup home fixtures. 

Lyon Rugby's domestic struggles continued in their Challenge Cup opener against Newcastle Red Bulls. They lost both halves and suffered a shock 23–14 home defeat to the Premiership club. 

The 2022 Challenge Cup champions and last season's finalists also fell 23–21 to the Dragons in their second fixture. They have lost their last seven away matches across all competitions, five of which by double digits.
