Tamara Korpatsch is the third seed in qualifying for the Upper Austria Linz Open. The German takes on the 12th seeded Erika Andreeva for a place in the main draw of this indoor hard court tournament. Korpatsch is 76th in the live rankings going up four places after making it to the second round of the Australian Open. The first round saw her come from a set down to get past Jodie Anna Burrage but she was then beaten in straight sets by the ninth seeded Barbora Krejcikova, winning only four games. Korpatsch had lost both of her first two matches of the new year, including being beaten by Naomi Osaka in Brisbane.

Erika Andreeva (the elder sister of Mirra) is down at 110th in the live rankings and that is a new career high beating her previous best but only by one place. The Russian won her first match of the year beating Rebecca Marino in Canberra but then losing in three sets (middle set lost) to Oceane Dodin. It didn't go well for her in the Australian Open being beaten in the second qualifying round by Polina Kudermetova, winning just four games. The qualifying rounds of this tournament have so far seen her defeat wild card Arabella Koller (ranked outside the top 700) without dropping a single game. This is going to be far tougher for her and we tip Korpatsch to get the victory and make it into the main draw
