World No. 3 South Africa will take on sixth-ranked Australia again in this 2025 Rugby Championship round two fixture on Saturday. The Springboks will aim to bounce back after losing the first round to the Wallabies. Check out our prediction for the match below.
South Africa kicked off their 2025 Rugby Championship campaign on a disappointing note, suffering a shock 22-38 defeat to Australia in Johannesburg last week. The defending champions had the game firmly under their control with a 17-point lead in the first half, but collapsed to a 33-0 second-half shutout in a shocking turnaround.
This result snapped the hosts’ seven-match winning streak in Test fixtures. Rassie Erasmus’ side will be determined to avenge this defeat and get back in the race to defend the title. They have won eight of their last nine Test matches on South African soil.
Joe Schmidt’s Australia will be brimming with confidence after their shock win in Johannesburg last week. A back-to-back victory could position the team strongly in the race for the 2025 Rugby Championship title.
However, they haven't been impressed away from home, losing two of their last three fixtures on the road. They have also lost four of their last five matches against South Africa by 16+ points.
