Sheffield United vs Sheffield Wednesday Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

It's the Sheffield derby and at present it's United who have most to smile about. A win in this match will see them go top of the table as they are currently third, just a point behind league leaders Leeds United. They lost their last game 1-0 at Nottingham Forest but home form is better with an unbeaten run of seven league games since losing to Swansea City on the first weekend of the season. United have won three of their last four home games and only lost two of their last 16 at home in the Championship. They are high scorers with only Leeds and West Brom having scored more league goals this season and Wednesday will have to watch out for Billy Sharp who already has 11 for the season.

Sheffield Wednesday are 17th in the table and only four points above the relegation zone. However, a win in this game will see them close to within four points of the play-off places so all is not lost. They are in terrible form though with four straight league defeats with two goals scored and 12 conceded. They have to bounce back from a 4-0 home defeat by Norwich City at the weekend but their away form is erratic. No draws on the road so far and although they have won three away league games, Wednesday have lost five. 16 away goals have been conceded and only Wigan Athletic have lost more. Wednesday have failed to win either of the last two derby matches against United since their city rivals returned to the Championship. That run looks like continuing and the tip here is for a home win for United to take them top of the table.
