18th-place Tottenham takes on eighth-placed Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in matchday 4 of the Premier League this weekend. With goals hard to come by for the hosts, our prediction sees a low-scoring match playing out in North London between the Lilywhites and the Toffees.
While Spurs have struggled mightily over the last two seasons, they have actually experienced a good deal of success against Everton in this fixture historically. They won 1-0 in this match last season and managed a 3-0 away win in the reverse fixture as well. Against Everton, Tottenham have racked up 12 wins in their last 17 home outings in the league, losing only once.
Everton have made an unbeaten start to the 2026-27 EPL campaign. They’ve shown real grit in their last handful of league appearances, managing to snatch a point in stoppage time in each of the last two. That leaves them with an unbeaten 1-2-0 record, but sitting eighth in the standings with five points.

Tottenham - Everton: Form Analysis
Spurs haven’t created many happy memories in the last 24 months at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Shockingly, they’ve lost 21 of their 39 home league fixtures since 2024-25, managing to win only nine.
They come into this fixture off the back of a 0-0 away draw with Nottingham Forest, and while they failed to win, there are some positives they can take from the point.
First off, it was Tottenham's first clean sheet of the season. Building on that, they’ve also put in two relatively solid defensive performances in their last two outings. They held Forest to 0.92 xG and Newcastle to 0.72 xG, despite losing that match 2-0 at home.
The visitors once again played the role of cardiac kids in their 2-2 home draw with Manchester United.
It was former Arsenal academy player Ainsley Maitland-Niles who lashed in a stunning long-range strike in his Everton debut and his first goal in the Premier League in almost eight years.
Ultimately, it’s hard to argue that Everton didn’t deserve something from that match. They statistically outperformed Manchester United in nearly every metric, even holding the Red Devils to just 0.69 xG while creating 1.01 for themselves.
The Toffees have now drawn their last two EPL outings after their 2-0 opening day win over Crystal Palace.

Tottenham & Everton Squad Analysis
Tottenham failed to register a single shot on target against Forest in their last outing, the first time that’s happened in over four years. Indeed, it’s been a shaky start to their Spurs’ career for big-money signings Omar Marmoush and Savio.
However, if Tottenham are to finally get their first win on the board, you feel Marmoush will be at the centre of it. The Egyptian spurned a 1v1 chance in the match against Forest and looked lively against Newcastle, creating three scoring chances despite his team losing 2-0.
Manager Roberto De Zerbi has a lengthy injury list to contend with, missing players such as Maddison, Kulusevski, Simons, Odobert and Mudryk.
Only Haaland has racked up more expected goals than Thierno Barry (2.31) in the Premier League so far this season.
For Everton, a deadline day fiasco saw them unable to close a deal for American striker Folarin Balogun, leaving them with Thierno Barry as the only recognised striker in the squad, after Beto was sold to Fiorentina.
Jack Grealish is back on Merseyside and fans will be hoping to see the former Villa and City man in the starting lineup, following his 24 minute cameo appearance against Manchester United.
Manager David Moyes could be without a pair of midfielders here as James Garner is a doubt while Christian Norgaard is expected to miss out as well.

Our Tottenham vs Everton Prediction
While Tottenham deserve criticism for their start, we should consider that there has been a monumental amount of change in recent months. De Zerbi is still relatively new and with the sheer amount of new signings they made, it’s going to take some time until the Lilywhites are up and running.
They have, however, put in some promising performances on the defensive end and if they can maintain these underlying numbers, should be able to really limit Everton’s chances here. With Spurs yet to score, we’re not expecting a sudden goal glut from them either. Our Tottenham vs Everton prediction: under 2.5 goals.
Tottenham vs Everton Alternative Predictions
Tottenham wins
Omar Marmoush to score or assist
Marmoush created three chances in the defeat against Newcastle and was one of Tottenham’s bright spots. He missed a gilt-edged chance in the first half against Nottingham Forest after being put through 1v1, a chance you’d expect a player of his quality to finish more often than not. If Spurs are to make the breakthrough, the Egyptian will likely be involved.
