14th seed Francisco Cerundolo is attempting to reach round three of the Canadian Open for the first time. To do so, he must defeat unseeded Jaume Munar in round two of this outdoor hard court tournament. Read our match prediction below.

These two players are familiar opponents. Cerundolo leads 3-1 but all four previous meetings were played on clay. Cerundolo mainly plays on that surface but has enjoyed success on hard courts this year.

The quarter-finals were reached in both Miami and Indian Wells. In those tournaments, he achieved wins against Alex de Minaur, Tommy Paul and Casper Ruud. His hard court record this year is eight wins from 12 matches. 

The winner of this match will take on either 24th seed Tallon Griekspoor or unseeded Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the last 32.

Jaume Munar is also more at home on a clay court. He's 48th in the live rankings, 22 places below his opponent. Munar beat Dan Martin in round one, losing just three games. That took his 2025 hard court record to 10-6.

Semi-finals have been reached in both Hong Kong and Dallas. Last week saw him lose in round two in Washington. He could well make life difficult for his opponent but we tip Cerundolo to get the victory.
