Leeds United will open their Premier League campaign with a home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The home team lost two key players but comes from a good preseason, which saw them register three wins in the five matches played. It wasn’t a very good campaign for them last season, finishing just three points above the relegation zone and the exits of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips leave a gap. Wolves, on the other hand, played eight preseason matches, and managed four wins. It is in their most recent five that they played top sides, and struggled, winning just once in five and keeping one clean sheet only. Last season they capitulated in the second half of the campaign and could only finish 10th after much promise in the first half. Their main shortcoming was in attack, scoring 38 goals in the 38 league matches. Their goals tally was the lowest among teams that avoided relegation and clearly an area they need to improve on. It will be tougher after Raul Jimenez’s injury in preseason, coming just when Fabio Silva has left on loan.

Leeds United are playing at home and on the back of a stronger preseason. They will be favorites here, but the margins aren’t so big. They are favored to win at 2.34 while Wolves are at 3.28. the best odds for a draw here are placed at 3.54.

Leeds - Wolves: Form Analysis
Leeds United were not very strong finishers in the league at home last season, and neither were Wolves in their away league matches. Going into preseason, Wolves started well but when they encountered tougher teams, they struggled. It is worse for them that their main forward is out injured, while a prospect that would have replaced him (Fabio Silva) is off, on loan and doing well in Belgium. They have the same defensive issues and low scoring returns that blighted their season in 2021/22. Leeds United on the other hand, seem to have turned the bend after their dismal showing last season. Manager Jesse Marsch has put his imprint in the team and things look more promising in attack. He still has defensive concerns to sort though, after managing one clean sheet in five preseason games.
