Khachanov is the world number 26 but up a couple of places in the live rankings. He can't rise any higher this week even if winning this ATP 250 tournament. This is his second quarter-final in a month after also getting to this stage in Beijing.
Earlier this year, the Russian won the Doha hard court tournament and also made it to the last four in Marseille. In this tournament, he's had one match so far and unseeded Otto Virtanen was beaten in straight sets, though both went to a tie-break.
Beibit Zhukayev was ranked 213th in the latest list and has a career-high of 171st. This tournament is being played in his native Kazakhstan so he was given a wild card into the main draw and has made the most of it.
