Dusan Lajovic and the wildcard Facundo Diaz Acosta will square off in the quarterfinals at the 2024 Argentina Open. The winner will then play either Cameron Norrie, Federico Coria, Luciano Darderi, or Sebastian Baez. Dusan Lajovic defeated Alejandro Tabilo in the second round in three sets. He has now advanced to this round for the fourth time in nine appearances in Buenos Aires. The Serbian has however never played past the quarterfinals. He has also been eliminated more times in this round than in any other. Lajovic has now compiled a 3-3 record thanks to his win over Tabilo. He is currently ranked 58th in the ATP.
Facundo Diaz Acosta is also seeking to qualify for the semifinals for the first time. Before this season he had never advanced past the second round in his previous three appearances. The Argentine has been in excellent form in his fourth appearance and has won his two rounds without dropping a set. To advance to this round, he subdued former finalist Francisco Cerundolo by the loss of six games. This was his sixth win in 10 outings thus far and the fourth on clay. Diaz Acosta, who favours clay more than any other surface, is now up to 82nd place in the live ranking, a career-high record.
