Coventry City vs Derby County Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Coventry City will have another opportunity to try and rise farther from the relegation region when they host another struggling side, Derby County in the Championship. Both sides have winless runs going to this game, and the hosts are placed 20th on 35 points while Derby are 18th with 38 points. Coventry are coming from a 2-1 loss at home to Middlesbrough, which extended their winless run to three matches and are currently six points above relegation zone. In their last 15 matches the hosts have lost eight, won three and kept just four clean sheets. In the last nine Championship matches they’ve won just once and their matches have been characterized by low scores, just one of the five producing over 2.5 goals. With just eight wins in 34 matches in the Championship, this isn’t a campaign Coventry will look at with pride. They lost three of their last five but had some positive performance in the 2-0 win over promotion chasers Brentford. Seven of their last 10 Championship matches at home have produced under 2.5 goals.

Derby are also seeking a return to winning ways, coming from a 4-0 loss away to Cardiff City. This will be the second of three straight away matches lined up in the Championship and getting the points here will be key to their push for the season. They are nine points above the drop zone and will be particularly perturbed by the fact that scoring is not their strongest point. Among all teams above the relegation positions, Derby are the lowest scorers with 25 goals, a tally only better than the bottom two sides. However, they rarely fail to score; in their last 10 matches, they’ve scored in eight though they have just one clean sheet in the last seven matches. In four of Derby’s last six matches, both sides have scored and nine of the last 15 have ended in under 2.5 goals. The visitors have three losses in their last four away matches in the Championship and have no clean sheet in the four. In 16 away Championship matches, Derby have managed just five wins.
