Fifth seed Barangay Ginebra San Miguel will lock horns with fourth seed Converge Fiberxers in this PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinal series on Thursday. Can they strengthen their bid for a semi-final spot with a first-leg win against the Converge Fiberxers? Here is our game prediction. 

After a shaky start, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel stunned naysayers with a terrific finish to their PBA Philippine Cup elimination-round campaign. They won their last five games to rise to fifth in the standings and improve to a 7–4 record. This included a 108–105 victory over Titan Ultra Giant Risers in their final game.

Tim Cone’s side will also be looking to book their place in the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals for the second season in a row. They have won seven of their previous nine games against the Converge Fiberxers.

After a thrilling draw, the Converge Fiberxers edge past NLEX Road Warriors 107–95 in their final game in the elimination round. They finished fourth in the rankings with an identical 7–4 record as Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. 

However, the Dennis Pineda-led side wrapped up their elimination-round campaign on a low note. They lost two of their final three matches and have lost four of their five PBA Philippine Cup games against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
