August Holmgren vs Omni Kumar Prediction & Betting Tips - Kobe, Japan

 August Holmgren will face eighth seed Omni Kumar in the first qualifying round of the hard court Challenger Tour event in Kobe. The winner goes into the final qualifying round against either Yasuke Takahasi or the top seed in qualifying, Philip Sekulic. Kumar comes into this tournament in poor form having lost each of his four recent matches, all in qualifying rounds. The 22-year-old American is now 357th in the live rankings three below his career high of 354th. Kumar has failed to win a set in each of his last three matches. His last win in a hard court match was in September against unseeded Sarp Agabigun in the Istanbul Challenger qualifiers. He needs to regain the form that saw him  win two ITF tournaments and reach the last 16 of the ATP Tour Winston Salem Open in August with wins over two top 75 ranked players, though he did that as a lucky loser after being beaten in the qualifying rounds. 

August Holmgren comes into this tournament in far better form. The past week has seen him reach the last four of the Challenger Tour event held in Matsuyama. That has seen him climb 58 places in the live rankings to a new career high of 334th which beats his previous best by 387th achieved in July.  Last month saw him win the M25 tournament held in Harlingen. The 25-year-old won 10 successive matches before losing to Taro Daniel in Matsuyama. The recent win was his second tille of 2023 having also won a M25 hard court event held in Nottingham in the summer.  August Holmgren and Omni Kumar have had one previous meeting. That was last year with Holgrem winning the hard court match in straight sets. We tip him to beat Kumar again.
