Wolverhampton Wanderers start the weekend in seventh place and six points behind the final Champions League place. They host Newcastle United who are down to 13th after a poor festive period. Wolves had a mixed period and have lost their last two league games. A loss to Liverpool was expected and it was only 1-0 and that was with some key players left out. The away loss to Watford wasn't quite so expected though. Their last two home games have produced good results though with a win over Manchester City and draw with Manchester United in the FA Cup. Wolves have won four of their ten home league games this season but have only lost one of their last seven.

It's the usual up and down season for Newcastle United. One minute they look as if they could challenge for a Europa League place, the next a relegation battle looks on the cards. It was all going well late in 2019 as Newcastle rose into the top ten after a run of one loss in seven games. It's all gone wrong again for them with three points from their last five league games. That includes four defeats including the last three with nine goals conceded. Three of their last four away league games have been lost and they were held to a 1-1 draw by Rochdale in the FA Cup. A bet on Wolves to win this game is the suggested wager.
