Watford vs Middlesbrough Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Championship action on Saturday afternoon as Watford welcomes Middlesbrough for a game that looks sure to be well fought between a pair of sides who are in the promotion hunt. The 8th-placed Hornets have been strong at home while the 7th-placed Boro have been inconsistent on the road. Those respective records need serious consideration for our match prediction. 

Home cooking has been good for Watford so far, with three wins and a draw in four games at Vicarage Road. That is just as well for them as they have been poor on the road, losing 0-3 at Preston in midweek after a 1-4 defeat at Norwich in their prior away league game.

They picked up a 2-1 win over Sunderland last weekend, the team who currently sit atop the Championship table. That team inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Middlesbrough on September 21 which at least gives a form line into the contest. 

Middlesbrough has two wins and two draws on the road this season, scoring three times and conceding twice. They picked up three points at West Brom in midweek, handing the Baggies their first home loss of the season as well as becoming the first away team to find the back of the net at The Hawthorns this season.

As well as their defeat at Sunderland, Middlesbrough has also lost at Derby this season and picked up a win at Cardiff. The latter team are bottom of the league while the Rams have a home record that is very similar to Watford. The lack of consistency for Middlesbrough on the road will be a bugbear for their fans.
