QPR vs Preston North End Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Preston North End hold on to their faint promotion hopes as they travel to struggling QPR for their next Championship game. Eight points separate Preston from the top six with three matches to play while QPR are just three points above the relegation zone. Just as Preston need points to try and squeeze into the top six, so do QPR for survival. QPR’s mission seems more realistic though, and playing at home, they’ll be looking to open up a six-point gap. Their recent outings have ended mostly in disappointment, and the Hoops hope for some reprieve here. They are coming from a 3-0 defeat at Hull City, stretching their winless run to three games. Marti Cifuentes’ side has also failed to score in two of the last three matches, managing just a goal in that period. Failure to score in four of their last seven matches will definitely call for some improvement. Two wins in the last three meetings with Preston will however breed some positivity going into this encounter.

Preston, like QPR, have their backs against the wall, though they are fighting on a different front. They have very slim hopes of getting into the promotion playoff places. Their fate is no longer in their hands but there is everything to fight for. It is that fight that has missed in their recent matches, and now they can only cling on. The 3-0 loss to Southampton in the last game may have well extinguished their promotion hopes. Mathematically, however, they remain in contention. Preston have 63 points and can’t afford to drop any in the remaining three matches, while their goal difference also works against them. The loss to Southampton left Preston with just a win in their last five matches and they won’t be very confident here. In those five matches, the Lilywhites also failed to score in four. They will hope to avoid a second straight defeat to QPR, having gone down 2-0 in the reverse fixture.
