World number seven Ons Jabeur is the top seed in the Guaalajara Open. The Tunisian takes on unseeded Alycia Parks after receiving a bye in the first round. For the winner of this match the possible opponents in round three are either 15th seed Jasmine Paolini or unseeded Martina Trevisan. Jabeur will move up to sixth in the world rankings if beating her American opponent. Currently eighth in the Live WTA Race, a good run in this tournament will boost her chances of making it into the end-of-season Tour Finals. Jabeur needs to bounce back from her loss to Anastasia Potapova in San Diego last week. Prior to that the 29-year-old reached the last eight in Cincinnati and the fourth round of the US Open.
