Qualifier Facundo Bagnis has made it to round two of the Canadian Open. He takes on 30th seed Nuno Borges for a place in the last 32 of this outdoor hard court tournament. Can Bagnis cause a surprise? Read our match prediction.

Bagnis has been as high as 55th in the rankings but that was achieved nine years ago. The 33-year-old has risen over 200 places in the live rankings this week but is still only 477th.  He's had two wins so far in Toronto, his first hard court tournament of the year.

Round one saw him defeat Vasek Pospisil (now retired) in three sets. Bagnis has an 8-8 record this year and this is the first time this year he's won an ATP Tour main draw match on any surface.

Nuno Borges is 40th in the live rankings. The winner of this match will take on either eighth seed Casper Ruud or unseeded Roman Safiullin. Borges lost his only match to Bagnis but it was on clay in 2021.

The Portuguese player has reached one hard court semi-final this year. That was right at the start of the year in Auckland. 11 of his 19 hard court matches played this year have been won. We believe win number 12 is on its way and without dropping a set.
