Reigning champions Liverpool are in Premier League action this Sunday when they travel to the Etihad for a match with Manchester City. The Reds are top of the table with 16 points from seven games. It's close at the top and there are five teams within three points of Jurgen Klopp's team. City, however, are not yet among that group of close challengers. Pep Guardiola's side has had a stuttering start to the campaign that has left them in tenth place with 11 points from six games. Three consecutive wins in all competitions appear to signify that City are back on track yet they failed to win three of their last five league games. Curiously for a City team that scored 102 goals in the league last season, they have struggled to convert chances of late too. Their last four league matches featured a grand total of four City goals. The slickness usually associated with Guardiola's City is not all that apparent this season. Having said that, City won 11 of their last 13 home matches in the league, a run that included a victory over Liverpool.

City smashed their title rivals 4-0 that day but the title race had long been won by the team taking the beating. Extraordinary 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa aside, Liverpool have been largely brilliant this season. They prepared for this game with a midweek pasting of Atalanta in the Champions League, beating the Italian side 5-0 on their own patch. It was their fifth consecutive win all competitions and it saw new signing Diogo Jota score his first hat-trick. The Portuguese forward has been sensational for a Liverpool team that acquired several brilliant players over the summer. Despite this, Liverpool have found problems on their travels in recent months, failing to win 10 of their last 16 away games. Couple that with the fact that Liverpool failed to win their last four league games at City and it sounds like we would back City. But we wouldn't because they seem off. We suggest backing the visitors to get the win.
