Italy bid to get a second win in Pool A of the 2023 Rugby World Cup. They take on Uruguay in Nice and a win should confirm at least a top three finish and qualification for the 2027 Rugby World Cup. Their opening match in this pool saw them get a comfortable 52-8 win over Namibia. The Blues are ranked five places higher than Uruguay in the latest world rankings. They have played their South American opponents on four previous occasions and won all of them. The Italians have played in every Rugby World Cup but never made it out of the pool stage. With New Zealand and France after this match, it's going to take a massive upset for them to make the quarter finals. They have showed some improvement this year though despite winning the wooden spoon in the Six Nations. All five matches were lost but only by a -60 point aggregate score which is an improvement on previous performances.
Uruguay lost their opening match 27-12 against a much-changed French team. Los Teros are playing in the finals of the Rugby World Cup for the fifth time and like their opponents have never made it to the knockout stages. Only three of their 16 matches in the finals have been won. Uruguay will put up a a good fight in this match but we believe it'll be Italy who get the win and can do so on a -19.5 point handicap.
