Sunday’s match in the Championship is a relatively local affair as Bristol City host Cardiff City. The Robins and the Bluebirds are separated by the Bristol Channel, and also by six points and eleven places in the current table. What will our prediction be for this key Championship encounter for both teams?

The home side Robins come into this game unbeaten at home in four games this season, winning two and drawing two. They’ve rattled in seven goals at Ashton Gate, but have also conceded five. Bristol City are currently unbeaten in three games having beaten Oxford United 2-1 and then drawn 1-1 away to Swansea City. In midweek, they were held 0-0 at home by Sheffield Wednesday in their most recent game.

A worrying trend for manager Liam Manning and Bristol City fans is that they have gone behind in the first half in four of their last five games. They won’t want to do that against a Cardiff City team that picked up its first win of the season in midweek.

Erol Bulut’s team have endured a miserable start to the season, picking up just one point from the first 21 available in the Championship and losing six of their first seven matches. That awful start left Cardiff bottom of the table and adrift of the teams above them.
