The Atlanta Hawks will play host to the Cleveland Cavaliers at the State Farm Arena in the NBA on Friday night. The Hawks (11-8) are sixth in the Eastern Conference standings, while the Cavs (12-7) are fifth. Let’s get into the match prediction!

The Atlanta Hawks have been on an upward trajectory recently, winning seven of their last 10 games, but they were well off it in their last match when they lost 132-113 to the lowly Wizards. 

There have been question marks over the Hawks’ defence for several seasons - that was their issue against Washington when they had no answer to C.J McCollum, who drained 46 points. 

Atlanta are 8-4 at home this season and will hope to bounce back here. However, they were beaten by eight points when they faced the Cavs earlier this month. Trae Young is still sidelined for the hosts. 

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have not been performing at the same level we saw last season and are coming into this match following a 110-99 defeat to the Raptors on Monday. 

Indeed, injuries have played a role in their dip, and Toronto are one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now. However, that does not excuse shooting just 41% from the field and only four players surpassing the eight-point mark. 

Notably, though, Cleveland have only lost back-to-back games once this season. Max Struss and Sam Merrill are ruled out for the visitors.
