Kaja Juvan will be on a giant-killing mission when she faces off with Anna Bondar in the first semi-final at the European Open. This first match between the two will deliver the opponent to face Lois Boisson or Dayana Yastremska in the final. Read on for our prediction.

Seventh seed Bondar upset the form book in the quarter-final, beating top seed Ekaterina Alexandrova in three sets. In a match that lasted almost three hours, Bondar had to rise from losing the first set.

Twice in the match, they needed tiebreakers to settle it, and Bondar has now compiled a 29-12 record. On clay, though, she has an impressive 20-7 and comes here sitting 71st in the live rank.

Juvan will enter the semis as the only unseeded player still competing. She deserves her place here, having defeated Leyre Romero Gormaz in three sets in the quarters.

In both of her last two matches, Juvan entered as the underdog, playing higher-ranked opponents. That was never an impediment for the Slovenian, though. In the quarter-final, she lost the middle set through a tiebreaker but recovered with a 6-4 win in the third.
