The Camping World Stadium in Florida will host the highly anticipated friendly match between USA and Brazil this Thursday. This will be the final friendly for both nations before embarking on the Copa America which starts later in the month. The two nations had mixed results in their most recent outings. Hosts USA were thrashed 5-1 by a rampant Colombia in Maryland. Their first match after winning the Nations League didn’t go too well and they’ll hope for better in their last before Copa America. The USA will be worried about their performance in defence, coming here with just a clean sheet in their last five matches. That was back in March as they trounced Mexico, to win the Nations League title. They’ve won just three of their last 12 friendly matches and this will be a concern, facing one of the best teams at the moment.
As USA lick wounds from their heavy defeat, Brazil will be looking to go four undefeated before heading to the Copa America. The Samba Boys needed a late goal from rising star Endrick to beat Mexico 3-2 the same day USA fell to Colombia. While that marked a third unbeaten outing with two wins, there are concerns about their defence. It was the fourth time in six matches that Brazil conceded two or more goals. Meanwhile, they’ve managed just two clean sheets in their last 15 matches, pointing to the falling standards in the Brazil team. Those clean sheets came courtesy of narrow wins over England and Peru. They’ve however failed to score in just four of 25 matches coming here. Being their final friendly game before Copa America, head coach Dorival Junior may be tempted to send in a weakened team. Whichever way, we still don’t expect Brazil to fail to score.
