Croatia and Ghana are about to conclude their Group K campaign at the 2026 World Cup when they clash at Lincoln Financial Field in the third round. The Croats are unbeaten in their last four meetings against African opposition at the World Cup (W3, D1), hence our prediction points towards a Croatia win.
Croatia already guaranteed themselves a top-three finish in Group L at the 2026 World Cup, meaning they can secure qualification to the Round of 32 as one of the eight best third-placed sides. However, a win over their opponents in this upcoming clash and results elsewhere could see them occupy one of the top two positions in the group.
Ghana are in second place and level on four points with England at the top of Group L. Their fate of reaching the knockout stages for the first time since they advanced to the quarter-finals in 2010 is in their hands, and a point will be more than enough to book their passage into the Round of 32.

Croatia - Ghana: Form Analysis
Croatia needed a strong response after their setback in the Group L opener against the 1966 World Cup champions England at AT&T Stadium.
Twice they restored parity in the first half but couldn't contain the Three Lions' attacking pressure in the second half, ultimately succumbing to a 4-2 defeat.
The Checkered Ones didn't let that result derail their World Cup campaign, bouncing back with a 1-0 win over the already-eliminated Panama in the second round. That result marked their 14th win in 32 games at the tournament (D8, L10).
The Croats are unbeaten in their last four World Cup games against African opposition.
Ghana’s World Cup run in 2010 remains one of the more overlooked stories in tournament history. They were on the brink of becoming the first African nation to reach the last four, but Asamoah Gyan's late penalty miss against Uruguay denied them a historic moment.
The Black Stars are aiming to replicate that run in the current tournament and improve on that achievement. With four points in Group L, they find themselves in second place and level with England.
Surprisingly, they've yet to suffer defeat in their last two games. Their most recent match against England was nothing but a masterclass defence as they held a side 69 spots higher than them in the World rankings to a goalless draw. Before this, they beat Panama 1-0 in the opening round.

Croatia & Ghana Squad Analysis
Croatia have no injury concerns heading into this crucial encounter with Ghana. Ante Budimir was the saviour last time out against Panama as he came off the bench, replacing Petar Musa in the second half to score the winning goal in the 54th minute.
AC Milan star Luka Modric is expected to be in the starting XI once again. The veteran's recent match against was a historic one for him as he became the first Croatian player to reach 200 International appearances and just the fourth in men's football to achieve such a milestone, having scored 29 goals for his country so far.
Luka Modric became the fourth player in men's international football to reach 200 caps after Panama's match.
Ghana had a low number of shots in their recent match against England, with one of their two attempts landing on target - the joint-lowest of any side so far in a game at the 2026 World Cup.
However, what impressed was their solid defense in which they kept their opponents at bay. Shoring up the defence in that match were Jerome Opoku and Jonas Adjetey, and the pair is expected to continue their partnership at the heart of the defence.
In a single pivot, Thomas Partey acted as a defensive midfielder and had more touches than any other player on the pitch (45) and had an 85% accurate pass rate (23/27).

The final round in the Group L campaign at the 2026 World Cup between Croatia and Ghana is set to be a decisive clash as both sides need a positive result to secure automatic qualification to the knockout stages.
Finishing as one of the eight best third-placed sides, however, remains a possible route, but neither side will want to place their hopes on such circumstances.
