Unseeded Sebastian Baez faces 30th seed Gabriel Diallo in the Cincinnati Open second round. A tough task could lie ahead for the winner with the scheduled opponent being either Daniel Elahi Galan or top seed Jannik Sinner. Here's our match prediction.
Baez beat David Goffin in straight sets in round one of this outdoor hard court Masters tournament. This is only his fifth ATP Tour hard court event of 2025 and that was his first victory after four defeats.
He'd only won two of his last 11 matches before beating Goffin and is now 40th in the live rankings.
Gabriel Diallo is bidding to reach round three of a hard court tournament for the third time in a row. He got to that stage in both Washington and Toronto but had tough draws and lost to Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz.
Diallo is 34th in the live rankings and in with a chance of being seeded at the upcoming US Open.
The 23-year-old is yet to get past round three of a hard court tournament in 2025 and with Sinner possibly being faced next, he's unlikely to do so in Cincinnati. Recent wins on this surface against Matteo Gigante and Fabian Marozsan indicate he can be successful here.
