The Scottish Premiership title race took another twist as Kilmarnock beat Rangers 2-1 on Wednesday evening. Steven Gerrard's team now three points behind leaders Celtic and have played a game more. The loss to Kilmarnock ended a run of six league games without a defeat and they have only lost two of their last 14. The early season saw Rangers struggle on their league travels with only two points from their first four games including a 1-0 loss at Livingston at the end of September. Form improved though with four wins and two draws before the loss to Kilmarnock on Wednesday evening. They will have been pleased that Jermaine Defoe scored on his debut for the club and he could prove a vital player for the rest of the season.

Livingston are seventh in the table but are the typical mid-table side, They are 12 points off the Europa League places and 17 clear of the relegation play-off position. Midweek saw them lose 1-0 away to St Johnstone, their second straight 1-0 defeat after losing at Hearts in the Scottish Cup. They have gone four league games without a win and lost their last home league game 2-1 to Aberdeen. Before that they had won three games in a row. This won't be easy for Rangers but they can't afford to drop more points, go for Rangers to get the victory.
