Fourth seed Zhu Lin meets unseeded Laura Siegemund on Wednesday in the second round at the Poland Open. Siegemund defeated the wildcard Maja Chwalinska in straight sets in the opening round. She lost five games in the match which was her 18th win of the season. Siegemund has had a pretty decent campaign so far with 11 of her victories coming on hard courts. She has also suffered the majority of her 13 defeats on the surface. But after her impressive victory in the first round here, she will be confident of prolonging her debut past this round. The German is up eight places to 145th in the live ranking.

Zhu Lin has compiled an almost similar record to Siegemund thus far. She has also won 18 matches but has one less defeat, 12, than her latest opponent. The bulk of her success has come on hard court too. She has won 14 of the 21 matches played on the surface, the latest coming in the first round here. The Chinese number two defeated compatriot Xiy Wang in straight sets and surrendered six games in the process. The win moved her up one place to 37th in the live ranking. Lin won the first and only tour title of her career on hard court in Hua Hin earlier this season. The winner will book a quarterfinal showdown with either Jodie Burrage or Lucrezia Stefanini.
