Celtic will bring the curtains down to another title-winning league campaign in Scotland on Saturday with a home match against Aberdeen. Coming into this match, Celtic are 39 points ahead of third-placed Aberdeen. The Celts secured their 53rd Scottish title with four games to spare. They have now finished top in nine of the 10 seasons since the league was rebranded in 2013. A dominant first part of the season saw Celtic go into the split with a 13-point lead at the top. Ange Postecoglou’s charges would now need to only win one of their remaining five matches to be crowned champions. They did that with their first match after the split, beating Hearts 2-0 away. Since then they have taken their foot off the gas and come to this match without a win in their last three. Two of those matches have ended in defeat with the latest being a 4-2 loss at Hibernian in midweek. The Bhoys will get their hands on the league trophy on Saturday and will not want to spoil their coronation day with a loss. Celtic have defeated Aberdeen in their last six encounters.

Aberdeen will finish third this season which means qualification to the Europa Conference League. Barry Robson’s charges were almost certain of qualifying for Europe at the time of the split. They made sure of third place by beating St. Mirren 3-0 last time out and ending a three-game run without a win. Aberdeen concluded the first part of the season with a six-game winning streak. But after the split, they struggled and lost two of their next three matches. Their win against St. Mirren will give them the boost to try and halt Celtic’s dominance over them. The Reds last beat Celtic in 2018 and have lost all three matches against them this season without managing a goal.
