Record five-time champions Brazil will look to start their 2026 FIFA World Cup Group C engagements on a high when they face African powerhouses Morocco on Saturday. This match features two of the top-10 ranked sides in the world, with the Selecao ranked sixth and the ‘Atlas Lions’ ranked eighth. Going by how these sides love to bring excitement to their games, our match prediction is for both teams to score.
Brazil may be five-time champions, but their last success came in 2002, so the fans will be desperate for the drought to end. They struggled in the qualifiers, finishing fifth in the CONMEBOL qualifiers, but history suggests that the start of the global tournament brings the best out of them.
Morocco surprised the world with a semi-final surge in the last edition and are playing in their third successive global tournament. They are also the reigning AFCON champions, although their title was won after an appeal to the court. Can they surprise Brazil and underline their growing threat on the global stage? Brazil - Morocco: Form Analysis
Brazil struggled in the qualifiers and their set of friendlies in 2025, where they could win just two of the four matches (D, L1). That poor run continued with a 2-1 loss to France in a March friendly, but the Selecao quickly regrouped.
The South Americans come here with three consecutive friendly wins and, more importantly, aggregating 11 goals in those matches against Egypt, Panama, and Croatia. While goal scoring isn’t a concern, defensive issues continue to be a challenge for coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Brazil kept just two clean sheets in their last nine matches.
Morocco had a perfect eight wins out of eight in the African qualifiers to emphatically progress to the finals of this edition. They continue to hold Africa’s chances of winning the title, although a lot would depend on their group results.
Three wins out of five friendlies (D2) isn’t too great a record to boast about ahead of the tournament, especially as they conceded once in three of those matches. The Atlas Lions will still take comfort in the fact that they haven’t been defeated since losing to Kenya in August 2025, counting their AFCON final as a victory.

Brazil & Morocco Squad Analysis
Brazil prefer to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, which morphs into 4-2-2-2 with the electric wingers and forwards taking turns to lead the line. The injury to Neymar remains a concern, but the likes of Matheus Cunha, Vinicius Jr, and Raphinha are ready to show their mettle.
It’s the defensive midfield formation of Casemiro and Guimaraes that could be vital as Ancelotti hopes to answer the defensive crisis. Manchester United-bound Ederson replaced injured Wesley, which means the right-back position is up for grabs.
Vinicius has one goal and two assists in his last three friendlies.
Morocco are usually tightly organized in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Ayoub El Kaabi leading the line. He has 35 national goals to his name, and only Ahmed Faras (36) has scored more for Morocco.
Interestingly, it’s at the fullback position that all eyes will be on, as in Achraf Hakimi, Morocco have one of the best defenders in world football. He will earn his 100th national cap in this tournament if they qualify out of the group stages, so motivation will be high to perform well.

Our Brazil vs Morocco Prediction
Brazil are the perennial favourites whenever a World Cup starts, but unsurprisingly, they are outside the bunch of primary favourites this time. There’s a lot of uncertainty in the team, although like every Brazilian team, this side also has a lot of Samba flair. Morocco have shocked the world with their deep run in 2022 and will look to repeat the trick and will look to bring their recent strong offensive record to the tournament.
Going by the scoring patterns of these sides in recent times, our Brazil vs Morocco prediction is BTTS.

Both teams come into this match with impressive scoring runs in the friendlies and strong performances in the friendlies. The markets may favour a Brazil win to start the group stage, but Morocco are unlikely to fold easily. A draw could be a surprise result here.
