Unseeded Sebastian Ofner is up against wild card Terence Atmane in the first round at Roland Garros. The winner of this clay court match will take on either 25th seed Sebastian Baez or qualifier Gustavo Heide from Brazil. Ofner is the world number 45 and that's eight places below his career-high ranking. He's at 77th place in the ATP Live Race after winning three matches in Geneva in the past week. He had to qualify for the main draw and then beat Rinky Hijikata in the first round. Ofner lost in the next round, being beaten by eventual champion Casper Ruud. The Austrian has played nine clay court tournaments this year but hasn't won two matches in any of them. His record at Roland Garros was pretty poor until last year. He lost four times in the qualifying rounds and then the first round in 2022. Last year though saw him reach the fourth round.

Terence Atmane will have the home fans cheering him on. He is 121st in the live rankings and was given a wild card into the main draw of this Grand Slam. Atmane is only 140th in the Live ATP Race so he's not had a great year so far. This is only his second time in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament, the other being in this year's Australian Open where he lost in round one. Atmane did reach round three of this year's Italian Open but one match was won when his opponent retired. Ofner is the more consistent and experienced of the two and can get the win here.
