Austria cannot finish in the top two of Group F of the 2022 World Cup qualification and as they host Israel, they can only play for pride. The hosts are fourth in the group with 10 points while Israel are third on 13 points. Austria’s chances were ended in their loss to Denmark the last time out; that was their third loss in four matches. They’ve only won against Faroe Islands in that period and here the 5-2 away loss to Israel will still be on their minds. In three straight home matches, Austria haven’t registered a win; they lost to Scotland and Denmark in the last two home matches in World Cup qualification.

Israel on the other hand, have the slimmest of chances to make it to the top two in this group. They must win this and their final game, then hope that Scotland lose their final two matches. It is tough given it is no longer in their control, and with two losses in the last three matches there’s a feeling the hopes will be dashed. Each of their last five matches has produced over 2.5 goals and they’ve failed to score in just one of the five matches. In the last four matches, they have no clean sheet and have conceded two or more goals in three of the last four. Away from home, Israel have three losses in four games and ahead of this clash, they suffered two straight away losses in World Cup qualification.
