Lyon vs Monaco Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1
by Ian John | in Ligue 1 Prediction
Quickly-improving Lyon will take on Monaco in Ligue One on Sunday, with hopes of continuing their push for a somewhat unexpected place in Europe next season. Les Gones had a dismal start to the season but have been in great form of late, up until last week’s 4-1 loss at Paris St Germain. They face a Monaco side that has been very consistent this season and who also boast an excellent record on the road. Monaco lie second in the table and are likely to land a Champions League spot next season as they hold a five-point lead over third-placed Brest. They will also want revenge for a 1-0 home defeat to Lyon earlier on in the Ligue One season.Limited Offer. Currently at DraftKings

Lyon - Monaco: Form Analysis
Lyon have picked up more points away from home than at the Groupama Stadium this season, but their recent form at home has been much improved. Coach Pierre Sage has turned the fortunes around of the club who were looking likely relegation candidates for the opening third of the season. They were beaten 4-1 by Paris St Germain last time out at the Parc des Princes. Before that had been on a five-game unbeaten run, winning four of those five and winning eight of the ten games prior to the defeat in Paris. They have only failed to score in one game since losing 3-0 to Marseille in December. The goalscoring form of ex-Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has been one of the reasons why Lyon have been rapidly climbing the Ligue One table. They now sit 9th on 41 points and are just five points off sixth and a place in Europe next season.
Adi Hutter’s AS Monaco have been one of the more consistent performers in Ligue One this season. They lie second in the table on 58 points, well behind Paris St. Germain, but also five points clear of third-placed Brest. They have also been one of the more attacking teams in the division, scoring 56 goals, 17 fewer than PSG, but 11 more than the next best team (Marseille) have managed. Unbeaten in their last eight games, they have won seven and drawn one of their last eight road games. They cemented their spot in second place with successive wins over Brest (2-0 away from home) and Lille (1-0 at home in midweek) and should head into this game in a very confident frame of mind.

Lyon & Monaco Squad Analysis
Lyon manager Pierre Sage should have a relatively fit squad to select from especially after Duje Caleta-Car returned from injury last week. Nicolas Tagliafico will be eligible for selection for this game after missing the game with PSG through suspension. It remains to be seen how many changes Coach Sage elects to make following the defeat in the capital last week, but in-form striker Alexandre Lacazette seems certain to start in attack. Young Irish defender Jake O’Brien has been the find of the season for L’OL his performances keeping the experienced Dejan Lovren out of the team.
Monaco coach Adi Hutter will be without a couple of players for this trip as he seeks to make it eight away wins in the past nine games. Winger Aleksandr Golovin and defender Caio Henrique are both out for the remainder of the season. Young midfielder Eliesse Ben Seghir and defender Wilfried Singo should both be available after serving a suspension in the win over Lille in midweek. On-loan West Ham defender Thilo Kehrer is also back from injury and likely to start at centre-back for Monaco. Denis Zakaria should hold onto his place in midfield after putting in a man-of-the-match display against Lille on Wednesday.
