The Pool stages of the European Rugby Champions Cup get underway this weekend. Pool 1 will see Section Paloise (aka Pau) host Leicester Tigers. Section Paloise are second in Top 14 with all three of their home games won this season. Our prediction is Section Paloise wins.
The other clubs in this pool are: Leinster, Glasgow Warriors, Sale Sharks and Clermont with the top three automatically going into the last 16.
Section Paloise have made an excellent start to the new Top 14 season. After the first six games, they are second in the table just two points behind leaders and defending champions Stade Toulousain. They have won five of their six league games, the other being a 51-25 defeat at Lyon.
All three of their home league games have been won with 144 points being scored. That includes scoring 70 points against Aviron Bayonne.
Leicester Tigers reached the last 16 of this competition last season. They are fourth in PREM Rugby after three matches with two wins and one defeat.
The Tigers lost their opening PREM Rugby game of the season, being beaten 40-38 at home by Saracens.
Since then, they have had victories away at Newcastle Red Bulls (yet to win this season) and at home to league leaders Gloucester.
Three of their last four away games have been lost.
