Stade Rochelais welcome Lions to Stade Marcel-Deflandre in this 2026-27 Champions Cup opener on Saturday. The Maritimes have been formidable at home and are favorites against a Lions side that has been struggling in its away outings. Our prediction backs the hosts to secure a comfortable victory.
Stade Rochelais made it back-to-back wins after a shock 28–16 victory at Lyon last weekend in domestic league action, a result that saw them rack up four wins in six league outings this season, climbing to fourth in the standings with 18 points.
Their European campaign ended in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals last season, when they fell 41–24 to Ulster Rugby. Ronan O'Gara's team will be looking to improve their fortunes in Europe this term with a strong start in Saturday's clash. Lions couldn't progress beyond the pool stages in the Challenge Cup last season. They enter this match off the back of a heavy 57–15 loss to Bulls in the URC last weekend, snapping their two-match winning start to the league.
