Saint-Etienne and Nantes square off at Stade Geoffroy Guichard on matchday 18 of the Ligue 1. Saint-Etienne are 16th in the league standings and are behind Nantes in 15th place. Here's our match prediction. 
 
After guiding Saint-Etienne to a 3-1 win over Reims in his first game in charge as the new head coach. Eirik Horneland's joy was short-lived as his side followed that triumph with a 2-1 defeat against PSG at the impregnable Parc des Princes.
 
Horneland will be hoping such a result doesn't throw a spanner in the works of what appeared to be a revival in the team's performance. The team had lost four consecutive matches across all competitions before his arrival. 
 
On home turf, they've been in solid form, winning five of their last eight matches.
 
Meanwhile, Nantes were dumped out of the French Cup as they lost 2-1 against Ligue 1 counterparts Brest in the round of 32.
 
As a result of that defeat, La Maison Jaune have become one of six teams in Ligue 1 yet to register a win since the start of the new calendar year.
 
In their previous league match, it almost seemed as if they were headed to their first win against Monaco. They had a healthy two-goal lead, but a creaky rearguard saw them salvaging a point in a 2-2 home draw.
