Middlesbrough vs Portsmouth Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

11th placed Middlesbrough host newly-promoted Portsmouth who are 15th in the Championship table. Boro are a point ahead of their opponents who have drawn both their league games this season. Here's our match prediction.

Middlesbrough ended last season well but eventually finished two places and four points below the final promotion play-off position. They made it three successive league wins when beating Swansea City at home in their opening game.

They also won 3-0 at Leeds United in the Carabao Cup but were then beaten 1-0 at Derby County (also newly-promoted) away from home last weekend. Boro's home form has been good with only one of their last seven games lost.

Four of the last five at home have been won in the Championship with all but two of their last six home league fixtures seeing them keep a clean sheet. This is their first game against Portsmouth since 2012 when they won away on the south coast.

Portsmouth are back in the Championship for the first time since the 2011-12 season. They certainly had an eventful return to the second flight of English football with a 3-3 draw at Leeds United. They led 2-1 and 3-2 but conceded a 95th minute equalizer.

In the Carabao Cup they lost at home to Millwall 1-0 and failed to score again when hosting Luton Town in the Championship last weekend. We tip Middlesbrough to win this match.
