Espanyol will be looking to make one giant step towards survival when they travel to another struggling side, Leganes. Hosts Leganes are second from bottom, while Espanyol arrive for this match placed 14th. Follow on for our prediction.

Eight points separate these two sides, with four matches remaining. Leganes are sitting in the relegation zone, and a win can’t lift them out yet, as they are four points deep.

All energies are now dedicated towards survival, and their recent performances have proved as much. Three times in the last five matches, Leganes came from losing positions to earn points. The latest of them was the 2-2 draw with Sevilla.

Espanyol should have disengaged from the survival/relegation mix by now. However, a three-match winless streak means they are still forced to look over their shoulder.

Los Periquitos will have themselves to blame for a number of points dropped in recent matches. Last week, they led from the first half against Real Betis but conceded twice in the final five minutes to lose 2-1.

Earlier, they also let their lead slip to draw 1-1 with Valencia. From a possible nine points in the last three matches, they have just a point to show. Espanyol still need five points to guarantee survival.
