Sweden (6-2) will meet Denmark (4-4) in the IIHF World Championship 3rd place playoff. The two Scandinavian nations have faced off many times in the past where the results have been one-sided with Sweden the dominant force. Will that continue? Read our prediction to find out.

Neither team will be happy with their semi-final efforts, Sweden beaten 2-6 by the USA and Denmark getting hammered by Switzerland, 0-7. Given that Denmark had beaten Canada in the quarter-finals, they will have been very disappointed.

Sweden were defeated by just Canada in the group stage which will give Danish fans some hope with their formline against the North American side. Sweden were always chasing the game, however, after going behind just 18 seconds into the contest.

The last 20 times these sides have played, Sweden have come out on top in 18 of them and they are a very short price to do so again. They are going to want to show the home crowd what they can do one last time in Stockholm and that suggests that Denmark are going to have to find their very best to win this.
