Italian Grand Prix Predictions & Betting tips - Formula 1
by Devesh Jaganath |
Formula 1 heads to Monza for the 2026 Italian Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. Kimi Antonelli leads the 2026 F1 Drivers’ Standings with 242 points, 59 points ahead of teammate George Russell and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton. Let’s get into the race prediction.
After Mercedes and Ferrari went head-to-head during Free Practice, Saturday delivered a massive shock as Pierre Gasly took a shock pole for the Italian Grand Prix in qualifying.
Gasly clocked a stunning time of 1:21.786 in Q3, marking the first pole of his career at the very track where he recorded his one and only victory way back in 2020,
George Russell finished 0.060 seconds behind the Frenchman despite getting help from teammate Kimi Antonelli’s tow in qualifying. The current championship leader is set to start the Italian Grand Prix from the back of the grid.
Ferrari rolled out a major upgrade for this weekend, and after a strong FP1 and FP2, their challenge in qualifying was largely disappointing, with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton finishing in P4 and P5.
Still, the SF-26s are not out of the running by any stretch of the imagination, as they’ve already shown this weekend that they possess the top-end speed to challenge the Silver Arrows and McLaren.
Max Verstappen will start in sixth place. Franco Colapinto, Lando Norris and Arvind Lindblad round out P8 to P10, respectively.

Our Italian Grand Prix - Formula 1 prediction
Qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix produced a genuine shock, with Pierre Gasly notching up the first pole of his career, and it will be interesting to see if the Frenchman can hold his own at Monza on Sunday.
For us, though, George Russell is the man to beat, having dominated FP2 and FP3 despite the much-discussed upgrades from Ferrari. There is also expectation that Antonelli will play the supporting role for his teammate this week, and we feel that the Brit will take the top step this weekend. Our Italian Grand Prix prediction is George Russell wins.
