Everton will hope to start their Premier League campaign strongly when they host Fulham on Saturday. Last season Everton finished 17th, only saved by a final day win and will hope for a much stable campaign. The arrival of Sean Dyche has somehow stabilized things at a tumultuous time at Everton. However, there are questions on the squad strength, having only signed 38-year-old Ashley Young and Arnaut Danjuma on loan. On the pitch in preseason, they delivered the results needed, winning four of the five matches they played. The Toffees actually finished preseason undefeated in five matches and in four straight, they had clean sheets. Competitively, however, there will be questions on the ability to avoid another poor season. Everton managed two wins in their final 11 matches of last season. Seeing that they have an even smaller squad now is a concern for the fans.
Fulham were the highest finishers among the teams promoted last season. This season they will want to do better than their eighth placed finish last term. However, it didn’t go so well for them in preseason, as they suffered losses in two of their four matches. However, Fulham completed their preseason schedule well, with a 2-1 win over Hoffenheim. That came after losses against Aston Villa and Chelsea. In two of their last three matches, Fulham failed to score, and four times in five they conceded twice. Three of their last five matches ended in over 2.5 goals with the team failing to keep a clean sheet. Away from home in the last 10 matches, Fulham, have suffered seven losses. Competitively though, Fulham completed last season with just one loss in four. They won twice in that run and scored two or more in three. Coming into this game, Fulham haven't strengthened a lot either, but have two quality signings. New men Raul Jimenez and Calvin Bassey scored in the win over Hoffenheim.
