Third seed Iga Swiatek and ninth seed Elena Rybakina will meet in Cincinnati in an extension of their long-standing rivalry. They will square off in the semi-finals to mark their fourth matchup of the season. Read on for our prediction of this match. 

Elena Rybakina is coming off an exciting and morale-boosting victory over top seed Aryna Sabalenka. The Kazakh allowed the world number one, who was the defending champion here, just five games as she won in straight sets. 

That was her second victory of the year against a fellow top-10 player and moves her 10th in the live rankings. Rybakina, the current world number 10, has won four times previously against Swiatek, more recently in the semis in Stuttgart last season. 

Iga Swiatek has been in excellent form against Rybakina this year, having won all three of their meetings. The most recent one saw the Pole secure victory via a decider in the fourth round of the French Open. 

Swiatek, who has five previous victories against Rybakina, won four consecutive encounters in this fixture. To make it to the semi-finals, the world number three defeated Anna Kalinskaya in straight sets. 

Swiatek, this year’s Wimbledon champion, hasn’t lost a set in Cincinnati, where she is gunning for her first championship. She goes into this match placed third in the live rankings.
