Action from Group A4 at the UEFA Nations League continues on Sunday with Denmark taking on Wales at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen. The Red and Whites have won their last three matches against this opponent, and our prediction is that they will get their first victory of this UNL campaign in this one.
Denmark will be looking for a better start to this match than their last, where they gave themselves an uphill battle after conceding twice early to Norway. Brian Riemer’s side can now look forward to consecutive home matches against Wales and Portugal and are the clear favourites to get their first three points on the board this weekend.
The Dragons secured promotion from League B in the 2024-25 campaign, but life in the top flight began with a disappointing loss to the reigning Nations League champions on Thursday. While there were plenty of positives for Craig Bellamy to take from the last match, his side have only beaten the Danes once in their last five encounters since 1999. Let’s take a look at some more key stats!

Denmark - Wales: Form Analysis
Denmark fought back to 2-2 after conceding two goals early against Norway, but Erling Haaland proved to be the difference-maker, scoring the winner for the Vikings in the 74th minute of the match.
The Red and Whites recorded 51% possession and overperformed their 1.09 xG in that match. They fired 13 shots (seven on target), created one big chance, and hit the woodwork in the first half.
Despite that result, this week’s hosts still have a good record of late, with just three defeats in their last 13 matches across all competitions dating back to the UNL quarter-finals in March last year (W7 D3).
Denmark are unbeaten in their last eight home matches in all competitions (W6 D2)!
Meanwhile, Wales failed to convert any of their three big chances and suffered a 1-0 defeat to Portugal on Thursday. They managed just 38% possession and finished the match with just 0.85 xG.
The Dragons are now winless in their last five matches (D2 L3), while their only wins in their last 10 came against North Macedonia and Liechtenstein during the World Cup qualifiers last November.
The visitors have only won two of their last nine away games and failed to score in two of their last four outings. They were beaten 2-0 by Denmark in their last away meeting during the 2018 UNL group stage.

Denmark & Wales Squad Analysis
Mikkel Damsgaard has been in excellent form for his national team over the past year. The Brentford man netted his side’s opener on Thursday night and now has seven direct goal contributions in his last six matches for Denmark.
Patrick Dorgu also caught the eye in the last match. The Man United man was deployed on the right wing and made 18 successful passes into the final third, including a team-high three key passes.
In his pre-match press conference, Riemer confirmed that midfielder Albert Gronbaek had sustained a thigh injury against Norway and is now set to return to Hamburger to commence treatment.
Damsgaard notched up an assist in the last match between these sides!
Wales came out of their last match with no new fitness issues, but they were hit hard in the lead-up, with Harry Wilson, Nathan Broadhead, Karl Darlow, and Joe Rodon all sustaining injuries.
Daniel James made an impressive cameo off the bench against Portugal, finishing the match with 0.56 xG in just 27 minutes on the pitch. He could replace Lewis Koumas in the starting lineup this weekend.

Our Denmark vs Wales Prediction
Craig Bellamy summed up Wales' performance against Portugal perfectly by saying his side had to “suffer a lot” on Thursday, and with the number of injuries they have, it’s not going to get much easier for the Dragons on the road in Copenhagen.
Despite losing, Denmark showed plenty of fight against Norway, coming back from two goals down before Erling Haaland netted the winner. Now at home, we expect the Red and Whites to be much better in defence and take the three points from this match. Our Denmark vs Wales prediction is Denmark wins.
